Greetings of Hope, Joy, Love and Peace!
The Conference Committee on Young People's Ministry (CCYPM) is currently looking for individuals to serve on the Peace and Justice Ministry Area Team
. This ministry area is a new endeavor, with an initial vision of amplifying the social justice work young people are currently engaging in within the California-Nevada Conference, through creating connections and providing resources. CCYPM also hopes that it becomes a space for theological reflection on the intersection between faith and social justice work.
In serving on the team, CCYPM hopes that you develop and exercise your calling to amplify the voices of young people within the conference, engage in social justice work, and cultivate the relationship between your faith and social justice. Some of the team’s tasks/activities may include attending monthly meetings that involve coordinating or planning conference and district-wide events, developing resources for young people in local churches, or engaging in Bible study and theological reflection.
For those interested in serving on the team, CCYPM is offering a scholarship for you to attend the “De-Colonizing the Church: A Commitment to Anti-Racism” 5-Week webinar series. More information on the webinar can be found here: https://www.umcdiscipleship.org/articles/de-colonizing-the-church
