40 SECOND HOMILY: ONE
One of the things we have in common, I think, is that, we like to read Sojourners Magazine. I read Jim Wallis article entitled, "When Will the Monstrous Become Unacceptable." It is a very prophetic article in challenging us that we need to decide, to take the risk of doing what is right.
He shared in that article a sermon by Rev. Dr. Otis Moss III from Trinity United Church of Christ. I included it here, "The Cross and the Lynching Tree: A Requiem for Ahmaud Arbery."
Jesus, in his prayer in John 17:11 is inviting us, challenging us to decide on what is right; to be one with God.
May forty (40) seconds allow you to listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit.
3 Questions for Discussion
1. What does the prayer mean, “so that they may be one, as we are one,” to you?
2. How do the children, youth and young adults feel about the death/murder of Ahmaud Arbery?
3. How do we overcome our silence when we are able to name the injustices in our country and in the world?
