2023 ACS Nominations for Youth & Young Adults

Thursday, June 15 2023 to Sunday, June 18 2023

The Conference Committee on Young People’s Ministry is announcing the online Nomination of Youth and Young Adult Members of the 2023 175th Annual Conference Session of the California-Nevada Conference of the United Methodist Church.

The 2023 ACS of the California-Nevada Conference will take place at the SAFE Credit Union Convention Center located at 1400 J Street, Sacramento, CA 95814. June 15-18, 2023.  (Youth Delegates are encouraged to arrive on Thursday morning, June 15).

There are two ways to attend Annual Conference as a youth.  The first is as a delegate for your local church.  You can talk to your pastor about that.

The second is the Conference Youth Delegation. Youth delegate are youth who are entering 6th grade through those who have just finished 12th grade. (Young Adult delegation begins once they have been out of high school for a year.)  Youth delegates have most of their costs covered by the conference as a way of supporting youth ministry.   But there are some added considerations.  We attend the session as a group, including most meals and rooming.  Also, you need to be nominated and approved.  This nomination process is mostly about being an active member of your church.  If you are active, we’d love to have you on board.  You can have your local church or pastor nominate you.  Or you can nominate yourself.

  • The online nomination form can be filled out by youth and young adults themselves, their pastors or lay leaders after consulting the nominees.
  • All nominees will receive a notification of being entered into the pool of nominations.
  • The nominations of youth and young adults from each district received by the CCYPM will be submitted to the District Superintendents for their endorsement.
  • The endorsed list of each district will be submitted to the Conference Committee on Nominations and Connectional Leadership Development for their election.
  • The number of youth and young adult members of the ACS shall follow the Lay Equalization formula from the Standing Rules:

Youth Delegation: Up to thirty-five (35) members. Seven (7) youth members with voice and vote from each district (one (1) basic member and up to six (6) additional members for lay equalization), and one (1) alternate member from each district with voice but no vote.

Young Adult Delegation:  Up to twenty (20) members. Four (4) young adult members with voice and vote from each district (one (1) basic member and up to three (3) additional members for lay equalization), and two (2) alternate members from each district with voice but no vote.
